Police said Friday that no charges would be filed in connection with an accident in which an 8-year-old girl was hit by a car when she ran across Perry Creek Road at dusk Thursday.
Police said Ziari King, 8, who lives in the 8000 block of Perry Creek Road where the accident happened, appeared to have suffered serious injuries.
However, a spokeswoman for WakeMed Raleigh hospital said that doctors examined King and were able to treat her and release her.
The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Filbin Creek Drive. Sunset in the Triangle on Thursday was at 5:10 p.m.
A police report of the accident said Michael Steven Britt Jr., 26, of Noble Creek Lane in Raleigh was driving a Honda sedan south when King began to run at an angle across the road from Filbin Creek Drive.
Britt could not stop in time when King ran in front of the car, police said.
Perry Creek Road was closed for about two hours while accident investigators worked at the scene.
