A wreck Tuesday afternoon in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 caused traffic to back up for about 2 miles in southern Durham.
Around 1:11 p.m., two of four lanes were closed near exit 278, which is N.C. 55, according to N.C. Department of Transportation traffic data. The lanes were expected to remain closed until about 4 p.m.
Heavy traffic delays at 2 p.m. spanned about 2 miles, or to exit 276, which is Fayetteville Road.
There was no immediate information about injuries or damage.
