ANGIER MAN COMPLETES MILITARY POLICE SCHOOL: Marcus McCloy, 23, of Angier graduated Wednesday from the Army's Military Police School, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. McCloy, who enlisted in the Army in December, is the son of Keith McCloy and Maria Marquez-Cole. Marquez-Cole, who serves in the Army Reserve, said her son's first assignment as a military police officer will be in Korea.
HOSPICE LEADER HONORED WITH TOP VOLUNTEER AWARD: Hospice of Wake County Inc. recently honored a former Hospice board president, James R. Carroll V, with the Dr. William M. Dunlap Award for his service and dedication to the nonprofit organization. The award, named in honor of a founding member of Hospice of Wake County Inc., has been presented only 10 times during the organization's 30-year history. Carroll is an associate vice president and investment officer with A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., a division of Wachovia Securities in Raleigh. He served as Hospice's board president from 2004 to 2007 and led the organization in its goal of building an inpatient and administrative facility to serve Wake and surrounding counties. This facility is scheduled to begin construction in May and open in the fall of 2009.
