Durham police investigate shooting

Durham police investigators are asking for information about a shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon on Otis Street.

Police said they responded to the call at the 2200 Block of Otis Street at 4:53 p.m. on Saturday.

When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old female who had been shot in her left calf.

Officers were told that the shooting occurred as a gold Lexus was being chased by a green Nissan Altima on Otis Street from Weaver Street.

A passenger in the Altima leaned out the window and fired several shots in the direction of the Lexus. One bullet struck the female and another struck a parked pickup truck.

The female was washing her car when she was wounded and she appears to have been an innocent bystander.

The Nissan is described as a dark green, 4-door, rounded body style early to mid-1990s model with North Carolina plates. It was occupied by two males.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator N.M. Byrd at 560-4415, ext. 232 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200.

CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
