Math, third grade, Ravenscroft School
Taught by Mary-Catherine Phelps
THEY'RE STUDYING: Math is a great subject to study, especially when you can tie it into race cars and pyramids. Third-grade students at Ravenscroft will take part in Moonlight Madness. The idea is to teach kids how math applies to their everyday life. For example, students will learn about geometry through discussing the pyramids in Egypt or how to figure out their batting averages. "We want to show children that math is everywhere, whether it be at home or in their hobbies," said Phelps, who coordinated Moonlight Madness.
