CrimeStoppers ups reward in Buwe shooting

DURHAM — CrimeStopppers has upped its reward to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest related to the March 26 shooting death of Sean Kali Buwe, 18.

The governor’s office also is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspects.

According to witnesses, Buwe was walking with a friend on Liberty Street when a male dressed in dark clothing got out of a burgundy van or SUV and shot Buwe from behind. The man then fled in the vehicle, which was driven by another person, according to witnesses. Officers found Buwe 's body on the sidewalk.
