Young soldier from Holly Springs found dead

HONOLULU - The Army is investigating the death earlier this week of a North Carolina soldier at Schofield Barracks.

Spc. Kenneth Jacobs, a 22-year-old from Holly Springs was found unconscious and not breathing on Monday.

Paramedics tried to revive him but were unsuccessful and declared him dead at the scene.

Jacobs was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He moved to Hawaii in 2006. He returned in October from a deployment to Iraq.

The Army didn’t immediately have further details.
