A Wendell man has been charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred in Octboer 2007.Gavin Coleman Smith, 21, of Volterra Court, is charged with second-degree rape. A warrant was issued for Smith's arrest on June 10.Smith received a prayer for judgment last year for simple assault. He also has a July 11 trial date for assault and battery.Smith, who was arrested by Wake Forest police on his latest charge, remained in Wake County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
