RALEIGH -
A Superior Court judge will convene a rare Saturday court session to finish the capital murder trial of a Wendell man convicted this week of killing his wife.A jury will decide whether Jakiem Wilson, 24, should receive a death sentence or serve out a lifetime prison sentence for stabbing Nneka Wilson, also 24. Wake prosecutors spent Friday morning calling witnesses who testified that Wilson had a violent history, sending his own sister and an acquaintance to the hospital with injuries after he hit them in the week before Nneka Wilson died.Defense attorneys called members of Jakiem Wilson's family, a former girlfriend and a psychologist who said Wilson had been sexually abused as a child.Nneka Wilson died Feb. 12, 2007, after she was stabbed by her husband. He told his friends he killed her because she nagged him and would want child support for their two young children if the couple split up. After the stabbing, he got two members of his Folk Nation gang to clean up blood in the house and make it look as if a rival gang member had killed her.Attorneys will make their arguments starting today at 9 a.m. in the Wake County Courthouse.
