CARY -- Cary voters gave the recent instant runoff election high marks, according to a survey conducted by a professor at N.C. State University.
Michael Cobb, an assistant professor of political science, found that voters preferred ranking candidates, as they did in the Oct. 9 municipal elections, over voting for only one candidate.
The one-candidate method will sometimes require a second runoff vote in tight races.
Cobb found that among voters who had a preference, 72 percent favored instant-runoff voting.
