RALEIGH - Police continue to investigate the killing of a 26-year-old Raleigh man early Saturday morning at an apartment complex in West Raleigh.

Jesse George Brunner was found shot to death outside the Spanish Trace apartments off Dixie Trail about 12:45 a.m. Saturday. Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Brunner lived in apartment No. 4 at 3010 Spanish Court, but he would release no further details about the investigation.

"At this point, we're not in a position to comment publicly on the circumstances," Sughrue said.

Brunner, who was known to many by his nickname, "White Bread," had an extensive criminal record dating to the late 1990s that included drug charges, according to court records.
