RALEIGH -
Police charged a 25-year-old man Wednesday with a string of robberies and related offenses.
Allen Jerome Smith Jr. of 1960-104 Milburnie Road in Raleigh was charged with nine counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon; two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery from a business or person; one count of attempted armed robbery, and one count of first-degree kidnapping, according to arrest warrants.
Police also charged Smith with a probation violation, court records show.
Investigators think the offenses occurred between April 19 and May 1, according to court records. Police accused Smith of using a handgun to rob people of $100 or less and of taking other items, such as jewelry, credit cards and checkbooks valued between $236 and $2,300, court records show.
In one instance, police think Smith forced a someone to walk to an automated teller machine to withdraw $100, according to court records.
Police transported Smith to the Wake County jail where he was in custody in lieu of $2 million bail.
