Band Together, a local grass-roots fundraising group, has raised $65,000 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Triangle.
Band Together, which focuses on raising money for charitable organizations, collected the donations during a May 19 concert featuring Son Volt and others. The concert drew more than 1,200 people to the Lincoln Theater in downtown Raleigh.
Founded locally in 2001 in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Band Together is a solely volunteer organization that organizes entertainment events to support charitable causes.
