HOLLY SPRINGS -- A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after his former girlfriend accused him of raping and trying to strangle her.
Santana Luviano Garcia, 27, of 4414 Kildaire Farm Road in Holly Springs, is charged with one count each of first-degree rape and assault inflicting serious injury by strangulation.
According to a search warrant, the woman, 18 years old, had gone to Garcia's residence to retrieve some belongings. She said he appeared drunk. In his room, he pulled her onto a mattress and raped her, she reported. She also said Garcia choked her until she lost consciousness.
The search warrant states that when Garcia's roommate became aware of the assault, he came to the woman's aid.
Garcia was being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail at the Wake County jail.
