When is a stiff breeze a wind?

When it stays at 25 mph or more, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a wind advisory all over the Triangle through midnight Wednesday and said gusts could be as high 45 mph in some areas.

Forecasters also said that if folks see precipitation Wednesday morning, it might include some snowflakes.

Wind with sunshine was the dominant theme for the rest of the week, however.

The chance of rain decreased from west to east through the Triangle on Wednesday as the likely top wind speeds increased.

Gusts were not expected to exceed 30 mph on Thursday and Friday, which should have sunny skies and high temperatures in the 50s, the weather service said.
