Fog covered much of the Triangle on Wednesday morning, and the National Weather Service said in an advisory that it could seriously limit visibility during the morning commute.
Forecasters told drivers to expect visibility of a quarter-mile or even less at times.
Once the fog burns off, they said, rain showers are likely through the evening. The high temperature should get into the upper 60s.
Afternoon highs will get back to the seasonally normal mid-50s on Thursday, but sunshine will replace the gloom of the first part of the week.
