SAY CHEESE, MOTHER NATURE

Want to take better pictures? You can learn about F-stops, shutter speed and white balance at Durant Park's Nature Photography at the Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Instructor Sol Levine will help participants learn about composition, what makes a good photo and what kind of equipment you need to shoot a winner.

This is a hands-on class for beginner and intermediate students ages 14 and up. The cost is $65.

The class will meet at the Training Lodge at the North Entrance of Durant Nature Park, 8305 Camp Durant Road.

A KITTY CAUSE

This is a big night for cat lovers. Especially the ones who devote themselves to saving lots of cute little kitties.

The Fourth Annual Tuxedo Cat Ball benefit of SAFE Haven for Cats and the SAFE Care Spay/Neuter Clinic is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. today at Sister's Garden, 2400 E. Millbrook Road.

Guests are asked to wear a dressy outfit -- in black, white or black and white.

Rebecca & the Hi-Tones will perform jazz and swing music at the reception, and live auctions, silent auctions and raffles will be featured. Among the items available are jewelry, original art work, travel packages and more.

There also will be special guests, and photos will be available by Randy Berger Photography.

Tickets are $80 person or $150 couple.

A REAL RACQUET

The Raleigh Racquet Club will be hosting the 2008 Carolina Cup Team Championships through Saturday.

The tournament features the best players in North Carolina. Play begins early today and goes until the last match is finished on Sunday afternoon. Approximately 160 players will participate.

Spectators are encouraged to come support their region and see whether the Triangle, which has won several years in a row, will be able to triumph again.

Proceeds will benefit the Raleigh Foam Ball League, a junior program project of the Raleigh Tennis Association.
