Citizens: Send us photos

Maybe it's because everybody has been out buying water and batteries. Or maybe it's because, the first two times I wrote about this, I waited until the bottom of the column and nobody reads that far.

For whatever reason, we have not one photograph yet for the annual My North Raleigh feature despite calls in this space over the last two weeks for entries.

My North Raleigh is the annual feature in which we ask area residents to send us photos that represent your North Raleigh -- people, places and events important to you. We do this every year in October to mark the anniversary of the North Raleigh News.

The deadline was Sept. 26. But, considering the disruption Hurricane Isabel is causing (not to mention the fact that we have, at the moment, zero entries), it seems appropriate to extend the deadline to Oct. 3.

You don't have to go out and take photos. You can dig through old ones. One of my favorites from last year was a snowy winter scene that reminded a Florida transplant why he moved here (now that's a different perspective!)

Here are the rules:

Send prints or negatives to: My North Raleigh, North Raleigh News, P.O. Box 191, Raleigh, NC 27602. Or you can email digital photos to dholly@newsobserver.com.

Either color or black and white images are acceptable.

Please include a short note about why the image represents North Raleigh to you, as well as a face shot of yourself and your phone number in case we have questions.

We will publish the best photos in October, and others will appear on our Web site.

Editor Dan Holly can be reached at 829-4633 or dholly@newsobserver.com
