Boy, it's time to start planning for next year and we're just putting the finishing touches on the changes we made this year!
I guess that shows that life is a process of continuous change.
One of the changes we made in October when we made a series of improvements to the North Raleigh News section was an expanded police report. (It runs on the "For the Record" page, which today is on page 9N.)
To recap, we expanded the space devoted to the police report so that we could report on more incidents in your neighborhood we think you ought to know about -- burglaries, vehicle break-ins, etc. Also, we started running, at the top of the page, weekly crime stats for the police districts entirely or mostly in North Raleigh -- Districts 21, 22 and 23.
Several readers have asked: Where are Districts 21, 22 and 23? It's a good question that we intended to answer and, today, we finally do. We've had our graphics department redo the map that runs with the police report to show the districts.
If you have other suggestions, about the "For the Record" page or any other page, let me know.
I did not get much response last week to my call for readers to let us know where the best Christmas displays are. I can only assume that, one, a lot of readers were out of town and, two, Christmas displays are just getting put up.
So I will ask again: Where are the most elaborately decorated houses in northern Wake? The houses that produce "oohs" and "ahhs" and that you tell your friends about?
One has to admire those who get so caught up in the holiday spirit that they go all out, to the point where they create a spectacle to entertain the rest of us.
I say let's give these folks their due. We intend to publish in the North Raleigh News section, before the holiday gets here, a story showing the best Christmas displays.
Drop me an e-mail message or give me a jingle (sorry, couldn't resist). Or you can send a letter to: The News & Observer, North Raleigh News, Raleigh, N.C. 27601.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
