The City of Raleigh apparently is not big on advertising.

It has not made much fanfare about the fact that the cementing shut of the gentleman's agreement that allowed signs to on the side of the road -- such as the ones put out by real estate interests to point the way to new subdivisions -- will be completed this weekend.

On Monday, the zoning department will start fining violators of the city's sign ordinances.

So a warning to all businesses large and small: keep the zoning department off your back and throw those signs under the counter.

Note to the child chanteur or chanteuse: If you're down with Bible stories, then herd your flock to the North Hills Commons area. A lucky few will have a shot for a part in the North Carolina Theatre's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

N.C. Theatre is looking for 6-to 12-year-olds to act as Sheena Easton's foil as the children's chorus. The 50 to 60 kids will sing in the musical running at Memorial Auditorium in the BTI Center for Performing Arts from July 8 through July 17.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. and will last until all the kids are seen.

North Hills is located at the intersection of Lassiter Mill and Six Forks roads, just north of the Beltline.

Tag, you're sold.

Assisted Moving, a Triangle company that helps seniors downsize and relocate, is holding a one-day-only tag sale at 4513 Edwards Mill Road on Saturday. Think of it as a happier brand of estate sale -- the difference being that the person whose stuff you're buying is alive.

Every house has a different set of items -- sometimes antiques, sometimes junk. Sometimes there's a car involved.

The sale will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

See www.assistedmoving.com for details.
