Ed Perfetto, former IT pro- turned-retail food seller has set his sights on the North Raleigh car-bound coffee consumer clique. Rana Capelli Cafe is a drive-through-only coffee joint in Oak Park shopping center at 6001 Glenwood Avenue.

Opened the first of this month, the java joint is occupying the vacated First Citizen's Bank location with three drive- through windows and one walk-up.

The cafe's name is Italian for "frog hair," an inside joke from the Southernism, "I'm as fine as frog hair."

In addition to coffee, cappuccinos and lattes, Perfetto serves up baked goods, too. He plans to have a grand opening in early April.

A bar and grill in North Raleigh is under new ownership.

Manchester's Bar & Grill at 9101 Leesville Road has been taken over and given a new look. The restaurant has been redecorated to give it a more Tuscan feel.

David Steadman, one of the new co-owners and resident chef, is sticking close the original menu, but will be dishing up gourmet specials on the weekends.

And fresh from the rumor file, Ulta, an Illinois-based cosmetics and beauty stuff retailer, is said to be looking hard at putting one of its hair- and skin- care joints in Triangle Town Center.

The chain runs combination beauty stores and salons that sell the companies cosmetic and hair-care lines in addition to providing a salon space for hair styling and other girly services like eyebrow waxing.

Ulta operates about 150 stores in 18 states. In North Carolina, there's one in Cary and two in Charlotte.
