Crabtree Valley Mall last week added two new stores to their retail ranks.

* Lids, the juggernaut in ball caps, opened a location near the food court.

Part of a more-than-600-store chain based in Indianapolis, the franchise sells everything from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Pillsbury Doughboy, all in hat form.

For more information visit: www.lids.com.

* Also new to Crabtree is the opening of Swim 'n Sport, the designer swimwear emporium.

Brands include: Calvin Klein, DKNY, Jag, Gottex, Roxanne, Hot Kiss and Kenneth Cole.

The location will be the first Raleigh store for the brand and the second in North Carolina.

The 50-year-old chain has more than 30 stores in a dozen states. For information visit: www.swimnsport.com.

Crabtree Valley Mall is located at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Creedmoor Road.

From the not-your-typical-Mexican-eatery file, Jibarra, an upscale south-of-the-border restaurant and lounge opened this week.

Located in the old Gregory's spot in Peachtree Market, the restaurant opened later than its planned October date.

Due to its later than scheduled opening, owner Joel Ibarra is looking to grab last minute reservations for New Year's Eve.

Jibara will be open for dinner six nights a week, closed on Monday.

The restaurant will also feature a tequila lounge with several top shelf varieties.

For more information, visit: www.jibarra.net or call 844-6330.

Peachtree Market is located near the intersection of Six Forks and Sawmill roads.

The mega-cosmetics chain Ulta has announced a January 23 opening date for its 9,160-square-foot cosmetics store.

The chain runs combination beauty stores and salons that sell the company's cosmetic and haircare lines in addition to providing a salon space for hair styling and waxing.

Ulta operates about 160 stores in 23 states. In North Carolina, there's one in Cary, two in Charlotte and one in Wilmington.

Ulta will be located behind Triangle Town Center, near the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Interstate 540, next to Bed Bath & Beyond.
