After six years in the Celebration at Six Forks shopping center, Solomon's Restaurant is moving to a larger location within the center.

The move, which is expected to be completed by January, would almost triple the restaurant's size, from 1,750 square feet to 6,700.

The menu -- a mix of Mediterranean, Italian and American fare -- won't change much, but the catering service will expand. Also, the new space will also have a Mediterranean gift shop.

Solomon's, named after the son of owners Victor and Debbie Khoury, opened in 2000.

Celebration at Six Forks is at the corner of Six Forks and Sawmill roads. The restaurant has a second location just south of Millbrook Road and Capital Boulevard.

Iron pumpers prepare.

It looks like the long-awaited Gold's Gym at the Pleasant Valley Promenade shopping center will be ready to open in early January. For the last two years, developers have worked up a sweat converting the old General Cinemas movie theater into a workout area.

Part of the holdup came from leveling the banked floor of the theater, which took more time than expected.

No word yet as to the official opening date.

The gym will be the third location for Gold's in North Raleigh, following a location on Six Forks Road and in North Hills.

Pleasant Valley Promenade is on Glenwood Avenue, just north of the intersection with Duraleigh Road.
