Last weekend did not go as Will Rollinson had hoped. The junior tennis champion lost in his division in the Bullfrog Tournament at Millbrook Exchange Park in the 16th round and went on to lose the consolation round.

"He's killing me," his mother, Barbara, said during his tournament play. "He's going to give me a heart attack."

Always the good sport, Rollinson was happy to have played.

"The Bullfrog is a great tournament, probably the best of all I go to," he said.

Rollinson plays in a lot of tournaments, up to two per month when he is not playing with his high school team.

The 16-year-old is a junior at Cardinal Gibbons High School and is the reigning state 2-A champion. He practices and trains at North Ridge Country Club. Seeded No. 4 in the 16-and-under boys' division, Rollinson was the highest ranked Raleigh player in the Bullfrog.

"I like tennis because it is an individual sport and a lot of fun," he said. "I enjoy the drive you get when you are out there doing well."

The Bullfrog tournament featured the top junior tennis players from nine southern states, making it the largest Bullfrog championship in the country. The Millbrook Park featured play in the 16 and 18 year old divisions.
