"Turtle City"

Wayne Morrison calls this shot "Turtle City." It was taken on a recent sunny day at Lower Lake of Durant Nature Park near Raleigh, Morrison said. He explains: "Every warm day in the park, a large group of turtles of all sizes sun themselves on this sunken branch, shell-to-shell, nose-to-tail.

"With this much weight on it, the branch seems to settle deeper into the water each day.

"I like the reflections of the turtles and branch in the lake.

'The 237-acre park is a wonderful place to roam and take pictures of both wildlife and landscape scenes.'
