Even though the school year just started, it's already time for many seniors to start thinking about their college plans.

Here are two opportunities for parents and students to get tips on how to pay for college:

Sanderson High School, at 5500 Dixon Drive, is holding a College Planning Night for parents and students at 5:45 p.m. Sept. 13. Guest speakers will include an admissions director from East Carolina University and Sanderson's financial aid advisor and registrar.

* The Wade Edwards Foundation, at 714 St. Mary's Street, is sponsoring a College and Financial Aid Forum from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 15. A representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina and from the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program will be on hand to field questions.

Faith Lutheran School, at 1809 Capital Boulevard, will host after-school programs for all Wake County students starting Sept. 12. Programs include drama, visual arts and music.

The local Cub Scouts are looking for a few new scouts. If you are interested, various schools will be holding informational sessions at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 13.
