Welcome back, northern Wake! It's time to start up another school year. I'm certainly looking forward to this year. There are some interesting and fun things going on in the schools. If you have a cool idea or program going on, let me know.Congratulations to Meghan Bryan and Geornay Willis, who recently competed in pageants.Meghan, 17, a senior at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School was crowned Miss Teen America in July. She competed against 40 other girls.Geornay, 9, a fourth grader at Friendship Christian School, received two trophies and a crown at the National American Miss North Carolina Pageant.Sanderson High School will be a sea of red at their first home game tonight at 7:30. In an effort to promote Spartan spirit, visitors are asked to wear a red hat.Volunteers will also be on hand to give out red hats for those who don't have one. Also, the school will partake in a Mexican tailgate party before the game.Brassfield Elementary School at 2001 Brassfield Road is holding a "Meet the Teacher" event for kindergarten parents at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
