Need to wind down after a long week? Ravenscroft's Upper School Drama Department along with the school's orchestra will perform "Into the Woods," | a Stephen Sondheim musical, at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday in the school's Fine Arts Center on Falls of the Neuse Road. The event is free.

Leesville Road High School, as part of its celebration of the "Year of the Languages," has started a new Spanish Honor Society for students partial to the language and culture. About 30 were inducted Monday.

The group will participate in service projects and celebrate Hispanic culture and events. Students also receive the opportunity to have their work published in a Spanish magazine, apply for scholarships and travel and study abroad.

The society was started in 1959 for students with high grades in Spanish.

St. Raphael Catholic School is holding its annual Ryan O'Connell Memorial Golf Tournament April 22 at North Ridge Country Club.

Interested? Register before Wednesday. The cost on Wednesday is $115; After that, it goes up to $125. A dinner from Carrabba's Italian Grill is included.

Congrats and good luck to Karen Hayden and Joseph Schedeler. Both were recently accepted into the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.

Karen, a senior at Sanderson High School received a full scholarship to the school.

Joseph, a 2004 Millbrook High School graduate, plans to study film at the school.

Kudos to the fourth- and fifth- graders at Durant Road Elementary School who participated in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition last weekend at East Wake High School. Two teams placed first and will move on to compete in the state tournament on April 9.

The competition focuses on teamwork and student-lead problem-solving techniques. Two other teams from Durant Road Elementary placed seventh and eighth.

Good job to all four teams!

"Great Tales and Treats" has been the theme all week at Lead Mine Elementary School. On Tuesday, the students had a dessert night, and second-graders at the school have been conducting a schoolwide awareness campaign about the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
