Wakefield High School teacher Jodi Riedel was one of five Wake County teachers chosen to participate in the 2006 North Carolina State University Kenan Fellows Curriculum and Leadership Development Program.

As part of the program, teachers work alongside scientists and university faculty for two years developing curriculum.

Riedel teaches agricultural education at Wakefield. Her project, "Sustainable Forestry: Promising Silviculture for Centuries," will help students understand the importance of forest land and the impact of deforestation, especially in urban areas.
