MusicforAll is hosting a Summer Symposium for the young high school music lovers in June.

The symposium is a week-long musical fest for students interested in concert band, jazz, orchestra, marching band and more.

MusicforAll is a national organization that works to promote the importance of music education.

Each night of the week, students can enjoy entertainment from various artists, including the U.S. Army Field Band and Barrage, a high-octane fiddle-fest featuring an international, multitalented cast performing an eclectic mix of songs and dance, according to a news release about the program.

The symposium is from June 23 through June 28. The Early Bird registration is Monday. It costs $475. If you miss Monday's deadline, you should register before May 19; it will cost you $545 to sign up by the later deadline.

The symposium is mostly for high school students, but in the past eighth graders have attended.

The birds are going to be chirping at Harris Creek Elementary School. Staff are in the process of constructing a bird habitat with a $1,000 grant from NC Beautiful. The Harris Creek PTA chipped in another $1,000 and additional money and volunteer time from several local businesses, according to a news release from the school.

The school is also planning a fun-filled day of activities geared to helping students "Think Green" at 9:30 a.m. April 11.
