Nancy Devine: ‘Laughable’ raise

Regarding the Aug. 20 letter “False credit” in which the writer stated, “Teachers will be laughing all the way to the bank” due to the raises awarded by the legislature: I assure the writer that my family member (entering the 15th year of teaching in North Carolina) finds the first raise in several years, projected to be $58 a month pretax, to be many things, but not a source of laughter. Laughable, maybe.
