George Toth: Benefits of fracking

Regarding the Sept. 2 letter “Iowa vs. North Carolina”: Unfortunately, Iowa has access to cheap energy from North Dakota’s fracking – the same fracking that you fault the Republicans for trying to bring to North Carolina. Actually fracking is the main reason that Iowa and many Midwestern states have a serious cost advantage over the seaboard states.

North Carolina keeps attracting outsider PACs that want to make sure we do not have fracking. We cannot have it both ways. Without cheap energy many will go elsewhere.

Fracking is a way to lower our energy costs through cheap natural gas rates. No business is going to move to an area that depends on wind power for energy.

I do have to agree with one thing, though. Those Iowa farmers are smart, smart enough to take advantage of benefits that fracking has brought them.
