I would love to have the opportunity to engage Gilbert C. Brown in a conversation regarding his Aug. 30 Point of View “ A modest proposal: charters for all,” but I fear he is unable to talk due to his tongue being stuck so far into his cheek.
Isn’t it a recognized fact that excellence in education is one of the proven ways to ensure excellence in our future? Isn’t it also a fact that excellent education can be achieved only with superior educators teaching our children? Why then are we treating them so poorly that they are leaving our area for states where they are appreciated?
Educated residents are what make this great democracy work. We must educate them to the best of our abilities. Fellow North Carolina residents need to please wake up as the time is upon us to elect political leaders who really care about our future. The election in November is our chance to start that process.
