Regarding the Sept. 5 letter “ GOP commissioners attending plenty of forums” by Paul Coble: I’m disturbed that the Republicans on the Wake County Board of Commissioners are willing to attend candidate forums hosted only by the business community. Organizations like the League of Women Voters and WakeUP Wake County provide a public service by holding forums for all voters.
We residents of Wake County need to know where candidates stand on important issues, like education, transportation, development, water, housing and more, for our county’s future.
Coble made clear in his letter that he is uncomfortable talking to organizations that may not always agree with his policy positions.
His support for legislation making voting more difficult is also troubling. The right to vote is at the core of our democracy and learning about all candidates and their views is necessary to making each voter’s mind up.
