Regarding the Aug. 3 column “ ‘Are you being served?’ is seldom heard”: Thank you, A.C. Snow for pointing out the problem of service, or the lack thereof. Are we being served? Hardly. Particularly us of the older persuasion.
A local building supply that I patronize has two people to show us how to do the self check out and only one to check us out. Their competition does a little better, but it’s some distance away. I may just make the drive.
No, I’m not going to do my bank transactions with some machine, either. I’m going to stop patronizing businesses that don’t offer some personal service, and I hope others will join me.
