Regarding the Sept. 26 news story” So Americans for Prosperity sent potential voters incorrect voter registration information. What a surprise.
As voting suppression cases head to federal court, I am reminded of a quote from a conservative hero, Ronald Reagan. In November 1981, he said, “We cannot allow any American’s vote to be denied, diluted, or defiled.” More recently Colin Powell, while in Raleigh in 2013, said, “I want to see politics that encourages every American to vote, not make it more difficult to vote.”
What happened to the Republican Party to make it try to stop people from voting, as opposed to encouraging it? Ours is a democracy. Is it patriotic to try and stop people from voting because you do not like their views? I think not.
