Regarding the Sept. 21 news article “ The car chase”: I am pleased that Chatham County may soon have an industry that will provide well-paying jobs and much-needed tax revenue for our county and our state.
While the article highlights the important contribution of Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker to this effort, it failed to mention that the site would not be ready without the efforts of local government entities.
Siler City officials worked in concert with Chatham County to provide the necessary infrastructure so that the megasite could be certified. The leadership of Chatham County Commissioners Brian Bock, Walter Petty and Pam Stewart has been vital to this effort and should be acknowledged.
