Recently I was in a minor traffic accident. It was raining, and a young man rear-ended me. I felt the hit, but it wasn’t that bad. My 7-year-old daughter was in her booster seat in the back. We are both fine. The police report was taken, including my daughter’s information.
A few days later, I started receiving an avalanche of mail from attorneys telling me they were aware I was in an accident. They were all so sorry but would like to inform me of my rights to compensation. Many letters were addressed to my daughter. I guess those who scan these reports don’t read the date of birth lines. Or maybe we have reached a stage where even a 7-year-old can sue, as long as she puts up her allowance for the retainer.
I continue to get multiple pieces of mail each day. I am appalled that this has happened. No wonder we have so many lawsuits and our court system is so clogged up.
I just heard from a friend who had a similar thing happen and continued to get these solicitations for two years. Stop the madness!
