Regarding your Oct. 8 news article “Hagan-Tillis debate intensifies”: I got bored and turned off “the debate” between Sen. Kay Hagan and House Speaker Thom Tillis on Oct. 7. I had seen the charges/arguments ad nauseum in their TV ads and mailers.
However, I harken back to a favorite statement an ex-boss often expressed during performance-rating sessions when the accolades were obviously hollow: “I’m sure they are a peachy dancer and love their mother, but give me facts on what they have accomplished.”
Remember, that was the accusation properly cast at then-Sen. John Edwards. The only political difference between Hagan and Edwards is that Hagan showed up on the Senate floor more frequently but did pretty much the same – nothing of substance.
We’re smarter than that North Carolina; let’s not make the same mistake again.
