Regarding the Oct. 2 article “ McCrory says no to guns at N.C. State Fair:” With the proliferation of guns, especially assault weapons, we have lost one of our most important freedoms in the First Amendment: the freedom to assemble without fear.
Since Aurora, Colo., we haven’t been to a movie theater. With all the mass shootings in malls, we rarely go to a mall, and we definitely don’t linger. Now, with guns allowed in restaurants, we rarely go, and when we do we are looking around for guns. If we see one, we don’t return. We shop online rather than encountering a gun-toting owner.
Our hearts are in our throats every time we drop off a grandchild at school. We’re afraid to honk our horns.
Now, it looks like we will no longer go to the State Fair. Thanks, NRA.
