As Raleigh voters approve bonds for new parks, the city should not forget the maintenance issue. The tennis courts of our city are an example. They are in shameful condition, and there is no money to resurface them. Some courts may have to be taped off as too dangerous to play on!
I am 87 years old and won the county Senior Games gold medal this year in the 85-89 age group. Tennis has participants whose exercise is vital to their health. I still try to play twice a week in spite of Parkinson’s disease and a bum knee. But we need help with the maintenance of our tennis courts.
