I am 85 years old and have been reading the letters to the editor for 60 years. It is very disappointing to read letters in which the writers are continually complaining about the government not doing enough to help them.
The need of the United States is for each one of us to do what is best for our community, our state and the USA. It may be simply picking up trash, making a donation or trying to help someone. We should consider doing what is best to advance our society, to make it more prosperous and reward those who are trying to help others.
As John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” It should be the goal of every American to be independent of government assistance, since it is a burden on all citizens both in time and money.
