Regarding the Jan. 23 news article “ Hatem raises downtown alarm”: A recent Raleigh City Council meeting included a hearing on an outdoor amplified entertainment permit for the Merrimon-Wynne house on Blount Street.
Astoundingly, neither the city attorney nor any member of the council was able to say what limits on noise such a permit might have.
Before any more amplified outdoor entertainment special-use permits are granted, we residents need to know what limits on noise are permitted. This needs to be spelled out clearly in the Municipal Code as it is already for indoor amplified entertainment permits.
