There are so many things wrong with Michael Strain’s Feb. 2 column “ End Obamacare, and people could die. That’s OK” reprinted from the Washington Post.
He started with comparing health care to speed limits and homicides. Really? But the line that shows how out of touch with most of the country he is was, “People should be free to pay for whatever care they like,” as if every poor person in this country has that option, when they have a hard time just paying for a place to live and putting food on the table.
The purpose of the ACA is to provide people without insurance and those who cannot afford any health care to be able to receive some care. For a nation that makes such a big deal about being Christian, we don’t act much like it.
Christ commanded us to take care of the poor and needy. I guess Strain was not paying attention in Bible class that day.
