I read with interest the responses of our public figures on the murder of the three young students in Chapel Hill. Not surprisingly, and independent of their political affiliation, not one of them used the word “gun.”
The media are focused on whether this was a hate crime rather than asking how an angry and sick person got permission to carry a concealed weapon (or even have access to a gun). People get killed with guns so often it is hardly big news.
Our elected officials must be aware these types of senseless murders will continue unless some common sense laws are passed.
