Regarding the Feb. 12 news article “ Lawsuit contests wedding order”: Magistrates are state employees who work for all residents of North Carolina without regard to religion, race, sex, creed, etc. All laws of our state are to be honored and followed per how the law is written.
Teachers and state troopers also work for the state and serve all the residents who seek their services. Can anyone comprehend teachers refusing to accept a child into their classrooms because they do not agree with the child’s religion or like that the child has two daddies? Imagine state troopers refusing to render aid because they disagree with a person’s religion. Imagine a hospital turning someone away because the doctor does not like the patient’s religion or sexual preference.
If our lawmakers cannot represent all of the people, they should resign, too. Senate leader Phil Berger needs to look into serving all of the people all of the time.
Republicans need to work on finding jobs, not creating social issues.
