Regarding the Oct. 19 news article “Cary official injured; Morrisville man charged”: The recent hit and run involving two bicyclers on High House Road really showed the danger of designating bike lanes on heavily traveled streets. We do need safe bike lanes to be separated from heavy traffic lanes.
As a daily driver on High House Road I see many cars barreling down that road at high rates of speed, and I’ve seen quite a few accidents there. And, unfortunately, it is fairly common to see cars driving on that road at night without headlights on after dark. I’ve signaled these drivers by blinking my lights, but most of the time they are oblivious and continue to drive that way.
It is obvious to me that it is not safe to ride a bike in the traffic on that road.
