As a longtime member of two apartment association boards, I have experienced parking as the No. 1 issue among residents, ahead of loud parties and drugs. When there are insufficient convenient spaces to accommodate the number of cars residents have, there is continual irritation. When there are visitors using the same spaces, the irritation can fester into vitriolic confrontations. Property managers must assign spaces to each unit and number them; that helps but does not replace inadequate numbers of spaces.
Based on the rational reports so far, it would seem that parking was the primary and possibly only cause for the recent killings in Chapel Hill. That would make the killings a rage crime rather than a hate crime, the probably false cause propagated by media sensationalizers and now morphed into a worldwide incident.
Would they have been killed if they weren’t Muslim? If the rage were dominant, ethnicity wouldn’t matter at all.
