I read through Wallace McLendon’s May 31 Point of View “Mamas on the Ganges rather than the Rocky” twice, and I am still trying to understand his purpose in writing this, other than to slam Christianity.
McLendon took this to an entirely new level by dragging one of North Carolina’s most beloved individuals, Billy Graham, through the mud and making his crusades appear to be a three-ring circus. Graham and his organization were not perfect; however, over the years he has proven himself to be a man of God (without a hint of any scandal around him) and has helped lead hundreds of thousands of individuals to Christ, including Louis Zamperini, the subject of the current movie “Unbroken.”
What is most remarkable to me is that this opinion piece was written at a time when, worldwide, Christians are being hunted down and killed at an alarming rate with very limited media coverage, all because of their faith in Christ Jesus.
Why is there not an opinion piece sounding the alarm on the persecution of the church?
