Veterans Day is a time to pay tribute to all who have served and sacrificed. Since the birth of our nation, American patriots have stepped forward to serve our country and defend our way of life. With honor and distinction, generations of servicemen and women have taken up arms to win our independence, preserve our union and secure our freedom.
The U.S. Navy has been serving this nation for 240 years, providing security through the selfless service of men and women who know they are part of something bigger. Bonded by camaraderie, customs and traditions, there are over 327,000 active duty sailors in today’s Navy who represent what one person can accomplish, what one force can do for a nation and what one nation can mean to the world.
Each member of America’s Navy represents a promise realized – the promise of what one person can accomplish.
On Veterans Day, we salute the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who have rendered the highest service any American can offer, and we rededicate ourselves to fulfilling our commitment to all those who serve in our name.
